And how the heck did they get him? That’s no coincidence. Pochlatko’s film, among other things, reflects on such questions as what is real and what is normal. The movie’s cast is led by Luisa-Céline Gaffron (And Tomorrow the Entire World) and also features Elke Winkens, Cornelius Obonya, and Felix Pöchhacker, among others. And yes, the British man protagonist Pia meets is called Ned and does look a lot like Ed Sheeran. But the actor’s name is Wesley Byrne, and he is a street cleaner who lives in the Greater Manchester area. IMDb credits him on the film as Wesley Joseph Byrne. But the 32-year-old tells THR that “Wesley Byrne is fine.” Via Zoom, Byrne also talked to …

Ed Sheeran’s love-hate relationship with London after £8.25m office block purchase

Ed Sheeran has had a whirlwind week, with an appearance on Sky Sports, addressing questions about his non-involvement in Band Aid, and making waves in the property market. The singer, 33, has reportedly expanded his property portfolio by purchasing a luxury office block in London’s bustling Soho for £8.25 million. This prime piece of real estate is set to bolster his growing investment business. The Sun reported that the star acquired the exquisitely refurbished building. It features open-plan office space for up to 50 desks, a fitted kitchenette, a breakfast bar, bespoke glass phone booths, and Crittall-style meeting rooms. The Suffolk singer said he would have “respectfully” declined to appear in the new version of the charity song, and referenced another post criticising foreign aid in Africa. The singer rushed to greet pundit Jamie Redknapp and quipped: “I don’t think [Amorim] wants to speak to me” before heading out of the shot. Sheeran has since apologised, writing on Instagram: “Apologies if I offended Amorim yesterday, didn’t actually realise he was being interviewed at the time, …

Country music: the artists to know before Beyoncé’s country-inspired album Renaissance 2 drops

Country music: the artists to know before Beyoncé’s country-inspired album Renaissance 2 drops

Dolly Parton, now 78, is another country music legend, having enjoyed a stellar, decades-long career – receiving 11 Grammy Awards, two Oscar nominations, and 26 number-one tracks on the country music charts. Making it all the more remarkable, Parton did it all in an industry known for its sexism, releasing music in the Sixties when Second Wave feminism was just taking off. Born into a one-room cabin in Tennessee, Parton had everything to lose, but was still fearless in discussing topics such as sexual freedom and female agency – as well as love and heartbreak – in her music. In 1968’s Just Because I’m A Woman, for example, she sings: “Now a man will take a good girl and he’ll ruin her… reputation. But when he wants to marry, well, that’s a different situation.” Here we’ve included her most famous track, but of course there are so many more classics: 9to 5, I Will Always Love You, Coat of Many Colours, Islands in the Stream… the list goes on and on.
