Michael Gove promises end to no-fault evictions by next general election

Mr Gove has also warned that young people shut out of the UK’s housing market could turn to authoritarianism, telling The Sunday Times: “If people think that markets are rigged and a democracy isn’t listening to them, then you get — and this is the worrying thing to me — an increasing number of young people saying, ‘I don’t believe in democracy, I don’t believe in markets.’” Source link

Lib Dems in meltdown over GB News attacks on Sir Ed Davey as they demand probe | Politics | News

Lee Anderson has brutally slapped down the Liberal Democrats after they announced they are writing to Ofcom in an attempt to shut down GB News presenters criticising Sir Ed Davey’s failure to grasp the Post Office scandal. In a letter to the TV regulator this morning, deputy leader Daisy Cooper blasted the channel’s attacks on Sir Ed, singling out Nigel Farage, Jacob Rees-Mogg and Lee Anderson for “bias” and “misleading” viewers over the scandal. The party has written to the head of the broadcast regulator, Melanie Dawes, to argue GB News’s coverage failed to highlight the role of Conservative politicians in the long-running saga. The letter from Daisy Cooper, the party’s deputy leader, raised particular concern about a segment on the channel on Tuesday evening in which Farage made a series of allegations connected to Davey, who was the business minister with responsibility for the Post Office from 2010 to 2012. “I was appalled to watch Nigel Farage, the chairman of Reform, launch a fictitious monologue about leader of the Liberal Democrats, Ed Davey, with a number of factual inaccuracies,” Cooper wrote. “The Liberal Democrats were offered no right of reply. This therefore breaches both the accuracy and impartiality …
