Here’s the joke that crossed line for Tom Brady at Netflix roast

Here’s the joke that crossed line for Tom Brady at Netflix roast

Tom Brady was a great sport Sunday night. He endured jokes about his divorce, his business decisions, his love life, his multiple retirements, his former teammates, his ex-wife, his healthy lifestyle and much more — all with a smile on his face. And that was just in the first 20 minutes of “The Roast of Tom Brady” at the Kia Forum that was streamed live on Netflix. One gag, however, apparently crossed the line as far as Brady was concerned — and the seven-time Super Bowl champion wasn’t even the butt of that particular joke. The target was New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, the man who signed Brady’s paychecks for the first 20 years of his 23-year NFL career. After host Kevin Hart opened the show with a blistering monologue — “Why didn’t we go to the Crypto.com Arena downtown? Well, the reason why we didn’t go there is because we didn’t want to remind Tom’s fans of how much money he owes them” — comedian and celebrity roast staple Jeff Ross kept the …

China Crossed Biden’s Red Line On Ukraine, So What?

China Crossed Biden’s Red Line On Ukraine, So What?

Authored by Mike Shedlock via MishTalk.com, It’s ridiculous to have red lines if you are not going to do anything when they are crossed. So what should Biden do? China Has Crossed Biden’s Red Line on Ukraine A Wall Street Journal Op-Ed moans China Has Crossed Biden’s Red Line on Ukraine. President Biden warned China two years ago not to provide “material support” for Russia’s war in Ukraine. On Friday, Secretary of State Antony Blinken conceded that Xi Jinping ignored that warning. China, Mr. Blinken said, was “overwhelmingly the No. 1 supplier” of Russia’s military industrial base, with the “material effect” of having fundamentally changed the course of the war. Whatever Mr. Biden chooses to do next will be momentous for global security and stability. Mr. Biden can either enforce his red line through sanctions or other means, or he can signal a collapse of American resolve by applying merely symbolic penalties. Beijing and its strategic partners in Moscow, Tehran, Pyongyang and Caracas would surely interpret half-hearted enforcement as a green light to deepen their campaign of global chaos. Mr. Xi …

‘I Can’t Swim’: An Iranian Who Crossed The Channel In A Small Boat Describes The ‘Scary’ Journey

‘I Can’t Swim’: An Iranian Who Crossed The Channel In A Small Boat Describes The ‘Scary’ Journey

An Iranian man who crossed the English Channel in a small boat to seek asylum from persecution has described in detail the treacherous journey he took. Nima Moradi spoke to BBC’s Newsnight in the aftermath of legislation being passed to underpin the Rwanda deportation plan, and three men, one woman and a seven-year-old girl dying in a small boat Channel crossing. The Rwanda policy to send illegal migrants on a one-way journey to east African country is key to Rishi Sunak’s pledge to “stop the boats” by deterring people from making risky journeys and breaking the business model of people-smuggling gangs. Nima, who was granted asylum by the UK’s Home Office last year, explained to Newsnight that he fled Iran after criticising the hardline Iranian regime and being persecuted along with his friends; one friend was executed. He went to Turkey and then Greece, where he was granted asylum, but left because he was “living in a tent without having access to electricity, without having access to hygiene facilities”. Nima Moradi left Iran because he …

UK Grapples With Uncharted Territory As “Red Lines” Crossed In Middle East

UK Grapples With Uncharted Territory As “Red Lines” Crossed In Middle East

Foreign Secretary David Cameron meets Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem on Wednesday (Alamy) 3 min read5 hr Middle East experts have said that the UK is entering “new territory” in addressing escalating conflict in the region, with Foreign Secretary David Cameron faced with making decisions without precedent. The UK helped Israel to largely intercept an Iranian attack by hundreds of drones and missiles on Saturday night. G7 leaders, including Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said they were united in condemning the “reckless and dangerous” attack by Iran’s “despotic regime”.  But alongside other Western allies, the UK is insistent that Israel should refrain from retaliation. Cameron met with both Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israeli President Isaac Herzog earlier this week with the hope of making this case, but on Wednesday said it was “clear the Israelis are making a decision to act”. He added: “we hope they do so in a way that does as little to escalate this as possible”. Netanyahu insisted that while other countries had “all kinds of …

Putin rocked as Russian soldiers fighting for Ukraine claim they have crossed border | World | News

Three military and paramilitary units made up of Russian soldiers fighting for Ukraine claimed on March 12 to have launched an incursion into Russia. Taking a humiliating swipe at Vladimir Putin, these groups took to their accounts on the messaging platform Telegram to claim they had entered western Russia from Ukraine. The Freedom of Russia Legion said in its Telegram post: “We will take our land from the regime centimetre by centimetre.” The Legion also seemingly referred to the upcoming presidential election in Russia, set to take place between March 15 and 17, as their post read: “The people will vote for whom they want, not for whom they have to. Russians will live freely.” This group is a Ukrainian-based paramilitary unit of Russian citizens opposed to Putin’s regime and the invasion of Ukraine led by the Kremlin. Another group to have claimed to be carrying out an incursion inside the Russian territory is the Siberian Battalion, a unit that has pledged allegiance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine also made up of Russian citizens. …

I saw my therapist weekly for two years. Then he let slip he’d been watching me. Had he crossed a line? | Psychology

I saw my therapist weekly for two years. Then he let slip he’d been watching me. Had he crossed a line? | Psychology

Just under a decade ago, I began seeing a therapist who, for reasons that will become clear, I will refer to only as James. I was in my late 20s, living in London and more stably employed than many of my friends, but also sleeping on my sister’s sofa and eating rice noodles on her floor following a dismantling breakup. Work became my life while the rest of it quietly fell apart. Whenever something major like this happens to me, which is not often, I usually do one of two things: leave the country or return to therapy. I have been in and out of one kind of treatment or another since I was eight: school counselling, grief counselling, cognitive behaviour therapy, various forms of Freudian and Jungian psychotherapy – roughly in that order. I would almost consider myself a veteran. Not that it always works, of course. Of my six therapists – a coterie of old men, young women, and one who had seemed ageless until he died of old age – most were …

Galactic Wave May Have Crossed Paths With Earth, Scientists Find

Galactic Wave May Have Crossed Paths With Earth, Scientists Find

“We think [Earth] could have passed through a festival of supernovae going off.” Chain Reaction In 2020, astronomers revealed the existence of an incredible cosmic structure right in our galactic neighborhood called the Radcliffe Wave, a wave-shaped chain of stars — and their epic clouds of gas and dust — that stretches an astonishing 9,000 light years across. Now, a new study published in the journal Nature details another revelation about this remarkable oddity: not only is it shaped like a wave, it’s oscillating like one, too. What’s more, The Washington Post reports, it may have even “washed over” Earth millions of years ago, plunging our little planet into a carousing swarm of detonating stars. “Thirteen million years ago, we think we could have passed through a festival of supernovae going off,” study co-author Catherine Zucker, an astrophysicist at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, told the newspaper. Zooming Out Much attention has been given to the huge cosmic structures millions of light years away. Their extreme remoteness is what makes them easier to see. Such …

Taylor Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce ‘crossed a line’ during physical altercation, says Jason Kelce

The Kansas City Chiefs may have won the 2024 Super Bowl but it was a disappointing night for Travis Kelce, who found himself embroiled in controversy following a physical altercation with his coach Andy Reid. And now, Travis’ brother Jason Kelce, a Philadelphia Eagles player, has criticized his brother’s action, calling him out for his “over the top” behavior that “crossed a line”.  “You crossed the line. I think we can both agree on that,” Jason said on the latest episode of their podcast, New Heights.  “Let’s be honest, the yelling in his face, too, is over the top. I think there are better ways to handle this, retrospectively.”  Travis Kelce has physical altercation with Chiefs coach Andy Reid Younger brother Travis, 34, acknowledged that he had overstepped, admitting that when on the sidelines he “can’t get that fired up,” and that “bumping coach and it’s getting him off balance and stuff” is inappropriate.  The moment was caught on camera during the second quarter of the game, which saw the Chiefs up against the San Francisco …
