28 Years Later Trailer Features An Unrecognisable Cillian Murphy

28 Years Later Trailer Features An Unrecognisable Cillian Murphy

Fans think they’ve spotted an unexpected face in the first trailer for 28 Years Later. On Tuesday morning, a two-minute teaser for the third instalment in the zombie apocalypse series was shared with the world, showing Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer and Ralph Fiennes’ characters in action for the first time as they fight for survival. But they weren’t the only A-listers who viewers saw in the trailer. After it was rumoured that Cillian Murphy would reprise his role from the first 28 Days Later movie in this upcoming third film, fans think his character may have succumbed after spotting an emaciated member of “the infected” who bore a striking resemblance to him. Although an official press release for the film doesn’t list the Oscar winner among the principal cast, he is named as an executive producer, having previously played Jim in 28 Days Later back in 2002. HuffPost UK has contacted the 28 Years Later team for comment. The disaster movie will also feature appearances from Jack O’Connell and Alfie Williams, with Danny Boyle on …

This Golden Globe Nominee Has Joined The Cast Of The Long-Awaited Peaky Blinders Movie

More casting details have been announced for the upcoming Peaky Blinders movie. A film based on the Steven Knight’s award-winning BBC drama has been in the pipeline for years, with Cillian Murphy confirming last month that he’d be back in action as Tommy Shelby in a new feature-length story, which is being produced by Netflix. It’s now also been revealed that he’ll be joined in the cast by newcomer Rebecca Ferguson. The Swedish star is best known for her work in films like Dune, The Greatest Showman and the Mission: Impossible series. Rebecca was also nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance in the historical drama The White Queen, and more recently appeared in the Apple TV+ series Silo. Rebecca Ferguson at the Dune: Part Two premiere in February Peaky Blinders first aired on the BBC in 2013, and ended up running for a total of six seasons. During its time on air, the show picked up a handful of TV Baftas, with Cillian also picking up a Best Actor nomination at last year’s …

‘Oppenheimer’ may have ignored our own nuclear victims. Congress should not.

‘Oppenheimer’ may have ignored our own nuclear victims. Congress should not.

(RNS) — Last summer, the film “Oppenheimer” captured audiences the world over with its depiction of the creation of the world’s first atomic bomb at New Mexico’s Los Alamos Laboratory. The Oscar-winning blockbuster went to great lengths to show the many moral struggles of those involved. To its credit, it also did not shy away from highlighting those who had no qualms with their work and its inevitable result.  The immediate result in question was the August 1945 bombings of both Hiroshima and Nagasaki. As many as 226,000 Japanese people, mostly civilians, were killed instantly. The radiation and fallout that followed killed many thousands more, making the total death toll all but impossible to know. These Japanese casualties came in for little notice toward the end of the movie. The film had an all but exclusive focus on the Americans who created and deployed this war technology that forever changed the world. But there was one group of Americans who failed to get a mention at all: the casualties of the nuclear weapon development and …

Anne Hathaway and Cillian Murphy Star in New Versace Icons Campaign

Cillian Murphy is starring in a new project, his first after winning an Oscar for Oppenheimer. The 47-year-old teamed with Donatella Versace to star in the fashion house’s new Icons campaign alongside another Versace veteran (and fellow Oscar winner), Anne Hathaway. Donatella praised the pair as “very Versace,” adding: “Strong, direct, iconic. For me, Anne and Cillian are two of the best actors of today. Exceptionally talented and kind people I admire and respect, looking their best.” The campaign, shot by photographer pair Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott with styling by Jacob K, finds the two wearing pieces from the new line including a leather dress and denim bustier for Hathaway, and a trench and tailored suiting on Murphy. Colin Farrell Talks Rise of Irish Actors in Hollywood

Colin Farrell Talks Rise of Irish Actors in Hollywood

Colin Farrell has nothing but love for his home country, saying this week that he’s proud of the recent rise in Irish actor success in Hollywood. “I mean, we punch so far above our weight,” Farrell, a native of Castleknock, Ireland, told Entertainment Tonight. “We’re only a country of five million people and I don’t know, Irish people — just whether it’s through music, the written word, whether it’s prose poetry, film, theater. He added that he feels his fellow countrymen share an appreciation of “the importance of story” and for “leaning into stories and meanings with which we understand ourselves and the world around us.” Last month, Oppenheimer star Cillian Murphy became the first-ever Irish-born actor to win best actor at the Oscars. “I’m a very proud Irishman standing here tonight,” Murphy said from the stage. Elsewhere in Hollywood, Irish actors like Barry Keoghan, Andrew Scott, Kerry Condon and Paul Mescal have also shot to stardom in recent years, joining an established crew of talent that includes Saoirse Ronan, Liam Neeson, Michael Fassbender, Brendan …

The Oscars Got What It Wanted

The Oscars Got What It Wanted

This year, the mission of the Academy Awards was, more than anything, to avoid catastrophe. The most-discussed ceremonies in the last decade have been marked by jaw-dropping viral moments—none of which had much to do with the movies supposedly being celebrated. The wrong Best Picture was announced. Will Smith slapped Chris Rock, then gave a rambling acceptance speech for the Best Actor award. The first Oscars after the start of COVID-19 gambled on ending with one Best Actor win and ended up with another—someone who was at home, and already in bed. Tonight, with multiple giant box office successes like Oppenheimer and Barbie up for a slew of awards, the Academy for Motion Picture Arts and Sciences had a prime opportunity to stage a great ceremony—and this time, basically nothing went wrong. Of course, that means that many of the winners were unsurprising—a symptom of a long and ever-growing awards season that anoints favorites months in advance, and is particularly susceptible to a juggernaut like Oppenheimer. And the night’s one big surprise was a little …

Cillian Murphy’s wife Yvonne McGuinness has been by his side during awards season, and was more than made up for the actor when he received the Best Actor accolade at the 2024 Oscars.  The pair were spotted passionately kissing moments after he heard he had won the prestigious accolade, which can be viewed in the video below.  Cillian looked dapper at the Academy Awards dressed in a tuxedo, while Yvonne looked stylish in a classic black dress.  VIDEO: Cillian Murphy kisses wife Yvonne as he wins Best Actor at the 2024 Oscars The couple first met in 1996 and have been madly in love ever since. Here’s Who Will Win at the 2024 Oscars

Here’s Who Will Win at the 2024 Oscars

In some sense, this has been the most boring Oscar campaign in years. The minute Oppenheimer blew past all expectations to become a critical and commercial smash, it seemed clear it would be an Academy Awards front-runner. Through the long and complicated slog of awards season, that prediction has largely come true: Christopher Nolan’s J. Robert Oppenheimer biopic has been a juggernaut, collecting Golden Globes, BAFTAs, and guild and critics’ awards on its way to an expected Best Picture triumph. But the expected dominance of Oppenheimer is merely an obvious conclusion to a night that may still surprise, particularly in the lead-acting categories and the two screenplay awards. As Hollywood gathers to celebrate a fraught but exciting year for cinema, with hits such as Barbie and critical sensations such as Killers of the Flower Moon also up for a slew of prizes, which categories will provide the best chances for a shocking result? Here are my predictions. Best Actress Nominees: Annette Bening (Nyad), Lily Gladstone (Killers of the Flower Moon), Sandra Hüller (Anatomy of a …
