Eddie Redmayne on His Tony Nomination for Broadway’s Cabaret

[ad_1] Eddie Redmayne received his second Tony Award nomination Tuesday, for his role as the shape-shifting Emcee in the Broadway revival of Cabaret.  It’s a role the actor, known for leading films such as The Theory of Everything and in the Fantastic Beasts series, played during the production’s previous West End run. And while he’s already put his own spin on it, with the Emcee evolving from master of ceremonies at the Berlin nightclub at the center of the show to something more sinister, Redmayne said he’s still finding more to explore. “He’s so enigmatic that he’s endlessly compelling to keep trying to mine and investigate,” Redmayne said.  Part of that exploration also comes as this Cabaret has the audience sitting surrounding the stage, and in a theater has been transformed with three levels of bars, which are used for a pre-show. All of this leads to a production that can change nightly, or as Redmayne calls it, “live theater in its chaotic wonder.”  In addition to Redmayne’s nod, the production itself, which also stars …

If you’ve watched season two of White Lotus, you know him as the middle-aged man traveling to Sicily with his elderly father and young adult son. Now, Imperioli is making his Broadway debut in An Enemy of the People. But as he tells it, it’s also a return of sorts. “There’s a bit of magic to Broadway, you know. Going to see Broadway plays when I was a kid was a lot of the catalyst for me wanting to become an actor,” he told NPR. This adaptation of the 1882 Henrik Ibsen play has clear relevance to the world today, nearly 150 years after it was written. Imperioli plays a small-town mayor whose brother, a doctor …

Running From Gossip, Ariana Madix Finds Relief in Broadway’s Salacious Musical, ‘Chicago’

[ad_1] NEW YORK (AP) — “Vanderpump Rules” star Ariana Madix becomes the latest celebrity to take on the role of Roxie Hart in the Broadway musical, “Chicago.” The show comes at a good time for Madix, who found out in the past year that her longtime partner and “Vanderpump Rules” co-star Tom Sandoval was cheating on her with another co-star. Madix hopes that her stint on “Dancing with the Stars” and playing Roxie in “Chicago” will continue the trend of her being associated with something other than gossip and tabloid headlines. “If I am in the papers, it’ll be for things that are positive. It’ll be for the work that I’m doing. It will be for more things like this and hopefully less things that are not fun,” Madix told The Associated Press at a recent press day for the show. She says that appearing on the reality television show taught her how to be herself, and that’s something she plans on bringing to her version of Roxie, which she stars in starting Jan. 29 …
