The feat surpasses the record she set in 2022, when she became the only artist in history to dominate the Hot 100’s entire Top 10 following the release of Midnights. With her latest album, the 34-year-old has now achieved her 12th No 1 single in the US with “Fortnights”, the lead track from TTPD, with 13 other songs charting from No 2 to No 14. The album also topped the charts, meaning Swift is now tied with Jay-Z for the most No 1s by a solo artist (14). The 31-track surprise double album has hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, tying Swift with Jay-Z for second-most No. 1 albums at 14 over the course of their respective careers. Only The Beatles, with 19 No. 1 albums, have had more. Poets has amassed 2.61 million equivalent album units, according to Luminate, the industry data and analytics company. A shocking 1.91 million of those units come from traditional album sales – people purchasing downloads, CDs, cassettes and vinyl. Vinyl accounts for 859,000 units sold, the highest number of vinyl sales in modern history. Swift’s is now the top-selling album of 2024 so far, eclipsing Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter, which sold 228,000 units. A Waitrose billboard erected in a wonky fashion as a marketing stunt was fenced off by council staff amid public safety fears. The retailer erected an askew billboard on Lindore Road, in Wandsworth, south-west London, in a nod to its falling prices. The billboard, depicting a downwards arrow flanked either side by food items, was accompanied bytext that read: “Well, this is good – new lower prices on hundreds of your favourites.” While the message to customers was that prices were on the way down, this did not translate across the board, with public concern prompting Wandsworth council to erect fencing around the billboard. The move provoked a lighthearted reaction from the retailer on X. In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday morning, Joe – who is a visual artist as well as comedian – revealed that the broadcaster got in touch with him last month about designing his own billboard to promote his show. “We’re really excited you are designing a billboard for the new series of Late Night Lycett,” the unnamed exec said. “The deadline for artwork is 2pm today and we haven’t seen you send anything through yet. A real-life Curb Your Enthusiasm billboard that recently went up on Santa Monica Boulevard in Los Angeles was graffitied to match Susie Greene’s (Susie Greene) Catch as Caftan billboard that appeared in episode six of the show’s 12th and final season last week. In the episode titled “The Gettysburg Address,” David gets quite the laugh when he sees Susie’s billboard that she purchased for her new business venture hit by a graffiti artist — two large penises were spray-painted on the billboard. The Hollywood Reporter learned last week that HBO was planning a marketing scheme to display a real billboard to promote Susie’s business (one without graffiti). “Imagine the traffic jams if we actually had a Susie poster on Santa Monica Boulevard where she was getting double-dosed,” Jeff Schaffer said at the time. Tesla has started using the Cybertruck as a literal mobile billboard as part of its advertising effort for the Model Y. I have previously argued that ‘Tesla Cybertruck is a mistake turned marketing tool‘. A mistake not in the sense that the vehicle itself is bad but because of the fact that Tesla has been spending its development resources on it versus cheaper vehicles – resulting in a multi-year gap in growth. As for the marketing tool part, the Cybertruck itself won’t contribute much to Tesla’s growth in EV deliveries, but it is being used to help maintain the sales of the automaker’s more high volume programs, We reported that the unveiling of the Cybertruck alone already helped the sales of Tesla’s other vehicles by bringing people who were hearing about or getting interested in Tesla for the first time into the stores.
