11 Best Beard Trimmers (2024): Full Beards, Hair, Stubble

A Beard Trimmer is a blessedly straightforward device that can have widely disparate results. Different beards have wildly different needs, depending on hair type and style. And quality matters. Cheap blades don’t save money if they die young. The last thing anybody needs in the morning is a dull or underpowered trimmer pushing your hair around instead of cutting it—or even worse, pulling your hair. The shopping-aisle rainbow of trimmers advertising “professional precision” and “lifetime blades” without corresponding warranties can be daunting to sort through. We consulted barbers and hair pros, then we turned these blades to our very own faces. Our team includes multiple testers with different morning routines, with multiple versions and visions of beard. Whether you’re aiming for rugged stubble, tight-detailed geometry, or the well-tended thatch of an elegant lumberjack, we have a pick for you. Army reverses ban on beards for first time in 100 years with King Charles’s blessing | UK | News

King Charles has signed off a decision to overturn the British Army‘s 100-year ban on facial hair. The move comes after a survey of serving and reservist troops demonstrated an “overwhelming” majority felt soldiers should be allowed beards. Head of the Army, General Sir Patrick Sanders, took the decision to overturn the policy, announcing the change would come into effect immediately. According to the new policy, only a “full set beard” is allowed, with lengths between 2.5mm and 25.5mm. Under the rules, exaggerated colours won’t be permitted, hair will have to be trimmed from the neck and cheekbones and there can’t be any patchy or uneven growth. In a video explaining the new rules, Warrant Officer Class 1 Paul Carney told soldiers their beards will be subject to review and must be kept neat. He said: “Our standards can’t drop. The Army has a reputation for professionalism and a smart turnout, with our allies and with the British public. “We must maintain that reputation by continuing to look our best.” The army’s former stance contrasted …

Soldiers given go-ahead to grow beards as Army axes 100-year-old rule | Politics | News

Soldiers have been given the green light to grow beards following a decision by the Army to overturn a 100-year ban on facial hair. The King, who is Commander in Chief, backed the move on Thursday which means that both officers and soldiers are able to do so from today (Friday). It means soldiers on Easter leave have the opportunity to grow a beard while they are away from work, according to the Telegraph. Defence Secretary Grant Shapps had described the beard ban as “ludicrous” during discussions around the Army’s recruitment drive. Now General Sir Patrick Sanders, the head of the Army, has taken a decision that “the appearance policy will change” after a survey of both serving and reservist troops. The RAF and Royal Navy already allow its personnel to do so. According to The Times, the new policy will only allow a “full set beard”. The length must be between 2.5mm and 25.5mm (one inch) and must be trimmed off the cheekbones and neck. A document sent to soldiers also says their beards …

Study highlights varying perceptions of beards among Hispanic and Iranian women

Study highlights varying perceptions of beards among Hispanic and Iranian women

In two studies examining the perceptions of male beardedness, U.S. Hispanic women tended to assign the highest attractiveness, masculinity, fighting ability, and partner quality to drawings of male faces with light and moderate-length beards rather than clean-shaven and long beards. They also had stronger preferences for bearded men (in the drawings) than Iranian women. The paper was published in Adaptive Human Behavior and Physiology. Facial hair, or beardedness, is a secondary sexual characteristic in men. Beard growth is influenced by androgens, a group of hormones including testosterone, which are crucial in developing male sexual characteristics. Researchers suggest that due to the biochemistry governing its growth, a beard may serve as a reliable indicator of a man’s fitness, health, and parenting ability. In various cultures and historical periods, beardedness has been seen as a symbol of maturity, wisdom, masculinity, or social status. The perception and social significance of beardedness can vary greatly. In some contexts, a beard is considered fashionable or attractive, while in others, bearded men may be seen as unkempt or unconventional. Women often …
