Netflix Reveals Action-Packed New Sneak Peek at Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance

Netflix on Monday released a preview of its upcoming six-episode anime action series, Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance. The nearly 5-minute-long clip was revealed as part of Geeked Week, Netflix’s fourth-annual fan event. A Netflix summary of the scene says, “11 months into the One Year War in U.C.0079, top Zaku II pilot Captain Solari faces the Earth Federation’s new lethal weapon: the mobile suit Gundam.” The series was created entirely with CGI using Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 5 and resembles a live-action movie. It premieres on Netflix on Oct. 17. The Netflix series is the latest addition to the Gundam franchise, a Japanese military/sci-fi series featuring giant robots, or mecha. Its first TV series aired in 1979, and since then, the franchise has included TV shows, movies, video games, manga, novels, plastic models and more. “Am such a big fan of the Gundam series, hope this one will be good,” wrote one YouTube commenter. When Ivor MacAskill and Rosana Cade staged The Making of Pinocchio a couple of years ago, they used Carlo Collodi’s story as a transgender metaphor. Here in Hull, the approach of playwright Mike Kenny is less overt but the message is the same.
