How 6-year-old Hind Rajab and two paramedics were killed in Gaza

How 6-year-old Hind Rajab and two paramedics were killed in Gaza

For three-and-a-half long hours on Jan. 29, the cellphone in 6-year old Hind Rajab’s hands was the closest thing she had to a lifeline. Alone in the back seat of a car outside a Gaza City gas station, she was drifting in and out of consciousness, surrounded by bodies, as she told emergency dispatchers that Israeli tanks were rumbling closer. From the operations room of the Palestine Red Crescent Services (PRCS), roughly 50 miles away in the city of Ramallah, the team on duty had done their best to save the child. Paramedics were on their way, the dispatchers kept telling her: Hold on. The paramedics were driving to their deaths. From left: Hind Hamada, 6, Bashar Hamada, 44, and his daughter Layan, 13, were killed, along with four other family members, as well as paramedics Yusuf Zeino and Ahmed Al-Madhoun. (Mohammed Hamada and Palestine Red Crescent Society ) Twelve days later, when a Palestinian civil defense crew finally reached the area, they found Hind’s body in a car riddled with bullets, according to her …

Mom Says 6-Year-Old Sneaks Around At Night To Use Electronics And Get More Screen Time

Perhaps no two words strike more fear into the hearts of parents today than “screen time.” For one mom on Reddit, her son’s love for devices has gone to a level she never saw coming. One mom’s 6-year-old sneaks around the house at night to use electronics and get more screen time. Today’s kids are in somewhat uncharted territory as the first generation to have never known a non-digital world. As a result, screen time is one of the most contentious parenting issues around nowadays.  RELATED: Mom Sets ‘Stricter Limits’ On Screen Time For Her Two Kids & Notices Improvement With Their Behavior A 2020 Pew Research study found that 71% of parents are worried about what all this screen time might be doing to kids, and 66% said they believe screen time and social media are making parenting harder than it was 20 years ago, in the comparatively innocent days of dial-up. That all makes this mom’s Reddit story seem less like an over-the-top example and more like a sign of the times. The mom doesn’t allow her …

Ramadan 2024: Should I Let My 6-Year-Old Fast?

Ramadan 2024: Should I Let My 6-Year-Old Fast?

Ramadan is just days away and families across the world are getting ready for the Holy month. For parents of young kids, the month can be slightly more challenging as they need to balance teaching their children about Ramadan, as well as focus on their own spiritual journeys. With all the build-up towards the Blessed month, many kids might be feeling left out if they’re too young to fast. Some may even be keen enough to want to join their parents in fasting, even if they’re not obliged to! But what do you do if your 6-year-old wants to fast? Do you allow them to do a full day? Do you suggest they fast for half the day? Or do you say no completely as they’re too young? Speaking to HuffPost UK, dad Kamran Ali says though his daughter began to fast properly at the age of 13, he allowed her to fast when she showed interest at the age of 9. “Al-Hamdulillāh for us it hasn’t been challenging at all as our daughter relishes …

Hind Rajab, Gaza 6-Year-Old Who Spoke Of Fear On Phone To Rescuers, Found Dead

Hind Rajab, Gaza 6-Year-Old Who Spoke Of Fear On Phone To Rescuers, Found Dead

Hind Rajab, a 6-year-old child in Gaza who pleaded on the phone to be rescued from a mangled car where she was surrounded by her dead relatives, was found dead alongside them nearly two weeks later, according to her family and the Palestine Red Crescent Society. Hind’s body was located in the Tel al-Hawa section of Gaza City on Saturday after Israeli forces retreated from the area. The bombed-out remains of an ambulance dispatched to rescue her were found close by. Hind had stayed on the phone for around three hours with the Palestine Red Crescent Society on Jan. 29, desperately pleading for help, the agency said. She was reportedly fleeing the city with her aunt, uncle and cousins when they were caught in gunfire. It was Layan Hamadeh, Hind’s 15-year-old cousin, who initially called the Red Crescent for help until falling silent. The Red Crescent shared audio from the trapped kids on social media, where it horrified listeners worldwide. “They are shooting at us. The tank is next to me,” Layan is heard saying …

6-year-old in Gaza City missing after attack on vehicle she was in

The Hamada family was trying to get to safety. An order from the Israeli military had gone out earlier on Monday, ordering them to evacuate their neighborhood in Gaza City. Bashar, 44, and his wife Anam, 43, piled four of their children and their young niece, Hind, into the car. They would never reach their destination. The full picture of the tragedy that befell the family remains incomplete. Some details could not be confirmed. What is beyond dispute is that their car came under fire; the parents and most of the children were killed; a 6-year-old girl begged for hours to be rescued; paramedics were dispatched; then communications were lost. The Washington Post reconstructed the events of that day by interviewing three family members, five members of the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) and reviewing audio of phone conversations between dispatchers and children in the car. The family’s story is emblematic of the ongoing dangers faced by civilians in northern Gaza — even as Israel says it is winding down its military mission there — …
