Boeing agrees to pay $51m over export violations in China and other countries | Boeing

Boeing said on Thursday it had reached a $51m settlement with the US state department for numerous export violations including Chinese employees in China improperly downloading documents related to US Pentagon programs. The state department said from 2013 through 2017 three Chinese employees at Boeing facilities in China downloaded technical data involving programs including the F-18, F-15 and F-22 fighter jets, the E-3 airborne warning and control system, the AH-64 Apache attack helicopter and the AGM84E cruise missile. Boeing said there were additional unauthorized downloads of technical data at Boeing and partner facilities in 18 countries, including Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Morocco, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Thailand, Taiwan, Ukraine and the United Kingdom from 2013 to 2018. Bob Marley One Love Box Office Wipes Out Madame Web With Huge $51M

Paramount’s Bob Marley: One Love delivered a huge $50 million-plus domestic opening over the six-day Valentine’s Day-Presidents Day corridor, enough to crush Madame Web‘s $25.8 million start, a record worst for Sony’s superhero adventures. Estimates show One Love racking in an estimated $51.1 million for the six days domestically, including $33.2 million for the four-day Presidents Day weekend and a record $14 million on Valentine’s Day (rival studios say the decision to go out on sweetheart’s day day was a smart choice in building momentum). The movie’s weekend debut is on par with the starts of such musical biopics as Rocketman or Elvis, and did almost double the business it was tracking to do. (Grosses could shift once weekend actuals are issued Tuesday morning following the Monday holiday.) Overseas, One Love earned an impressive $29 million for a global launch of $80 million against a $70 million budget. The film opened at No. 1 in 13 markets and set new opening day records for a music biopic in the U.K., France and other territories. In …

Gutsy launches with huge $51M seed to bring process mining to security

Twistlock was founded in 2015 with the idea of securing the nascent cloud native computing environment, a notion you could argue was well ahead of its time. When the company was acquired by Palo Alto Networks in 2019 for $410 million, it turned out that wasn’t the end of the story. The founding group got the band back together a year ago and began working on Gutsy with the idea of applying process mining to security. Today, the company emerged from stealth with an enormous $51 million seed round led by YL Ventures and Mayfield. The founding team includes CEO Ben Bernstein, VP of R&D Dima Stopel and CTO John Morello — the three founders, who also formed the core of Twistlock. Morello says security has historically been all about detection and settings, looking at how something is misconfigured or how an incident has occurred, but he says the company was founded on the idea that systems are a set of interconnected processes, and to get to the heart of any incident, you need to …
