12.9-Inch iPad Air No Longer Expected to Feature Mini-LED Display

12.9-Inch iPad Air No Longer Expected to Feature Mini-LED Display

Apple’s upcoming 12.9-inch iPad Air will feature an LCD display like its smaller sibling, according to Display Supply Chain Consultants CEO and analyst Ross Young. Earlier this month, Young said that the larger ‌iPad Air‌ would feature a mini-LED display like the current iPad Pro of the same size. The existing 10.9-inch ‌iPad Air‌ is equipped with a standard LCD panel, and the move to mini-LED technology for the 12.9-inch model would have provided increased brightness for HDR content, deeper blacks, lower power consumption, and more. He said the 12.9-inch ‌iPad Air‌ would use leftover mini-LED display panels from the 12.9-inch ‌iPad Pro‌, with the 10.9-inch model sticking with LCDs. Now, in a post to subscribers on X (formerly Twitter), he said that this is no longer expected to be the case due to the panel’s high cost, despite confirmation from multiple supply chain sources. As a result, both ‌iPad Air‌ models will feature LCD displays, clearly delineating them from the ‌iPad Pro‌, which is expected to move to OLED. However, Young added that there …

12.9-Inch iPad Air Now Rumored to Feature Mini-LED Display

12.9-Inch iPad Air Now Rumored to Feature Mini-LED Display

The rumored 12.9-inch iPad Air that is expected to be announced in May will be equipped with a mini-LED display like the current 12.9-inch iPad Pro, according to Ross Young, CEO of research firm Display Supply Chain Consultants. The existing 10.9-inch iPad Air is equipped with a standard LCD panel, and the move to mini-LED technology for the 12.9-inch model would provide increased brightness for HDR content, deeper blacks, and more. Young revealed this information in a post shared on social media platform X today. He said the 12.9-inch iPad Air will be using leftover mini-LED display panels from the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, and he touted lower power consumption as another benefit. Given that Apple does not have existing inventory of 10.9-inch mini-LED display panels, it is likely that the smaller iPad Air will remain equipped with an LCD panel. Meanwhile, the next iPad Pro models are widely expected to transition to OLED displays, which would eliminate backlighting to allow for higher contrast ratio with true blacks, and provide other enhancements compared to LCD and …

Next-Gen iPad Air With 12.9-Inch Display and Redesigned Camera Unit Revealed in CAD Renders

Next-Gen iPad Air With 12.9-Inch Display and Redesigned Camera Unit Revealed in CAD Renders

The design of Apple’s upcoming 12.9-inch iPad Air model has today allegedly been revealed in new CAD renders shared by 91Mobiles. As expected, the renders show a design that is very similar to the ‌iPad Air‌ design used for the fourth- and fifth-generation models, but simply scaled up to accommodate a larger display. The most striking difference is a redesigned rear camera unit, which now protrudes from the rear in a longer pill-shape, unlike the single, round protruding cutout on the current ‌iPad Air‌. 91Mobiles reiterated rumors that the next-generation ‌iPad Air‌ will feature the M2 chip. On the front of the device, the ‌iPad Air‌ looks very similar to the current 12.9-inch iPad Pro, but with noticeably thicker bezels, just like how the 10.9-inch ‌iPad Air‌ has thicker borders around the display compared to the 11-inch ‌iPad Pro‌. Apple Vision Pro Weighs Almost as Much as a 12.9-Inch iPad Pro

Apple Vision Pro Weighs Almost as Much as a 12.9-Inch iPad Pro

Apple’s Vision Pro headset can weigh almost 23 ounces (650 grams), depending on configuration, the company today confirmed. Apple says that the Vision Pro specifically weighs between 21.2 and 22.9 ounces (600 and 650 grams) depending on which Light Seal and head band is used on the device. The separate battery weighs 12.5 ounces (353 grams). For reference, this means that an Apple Vision Pro, excluding the battery, weighs almost as much as a 12.9-inch iPad Pro, which comes in at 24 ounces (682 grams). The weight of Apple’s headset was unknown until today, but it was widely rumored to be heavy compared to competing devices. This is not necessarily the case, since while the Meta Quest 3 weighs 18.2 ounces (516 grams), the higher-end Meta Quest Pro weighs 25.5 ounces (722 grams) – substantially more than the Vision Pro. However, the Meta Quest Pro has a weighted battery pack at the back of the headset’s headband to make it much less front-heavy and ostensibly improve comfort. Pre-orders of the Vision Pro opened earlier today …
