If you’d like to reduce how much you use your tumble dryer and don’t want your wet clothes hanging off the radiator this season, I think the Dry:Soon Tri:Mode 3-Tier Heated Hub is an excellent upgrade for your laundry system. While I’m not quite ready to give up on my tumble dryer completely during the winter months, I think this hub works as a great accompaniment.

Overall, I was pleased at how easy this dryer was to compile, store and control. It has an eight hour timer that will turn off automatically for peace of mind too, which works well if you’ve rushed out the door and forgotten to turn it off. 

The design is a little bulky, but it comes in two parts for easy storage and its three drying modes make it one of the most intuitive clothes dryers I’ve discovered. Its cover keeps your laundry conveniently out of sight, which is a bonus if you’re using it in the living room.   

It can fit jumpers, swimwear, delicates, jeans, shirts and more with temperatures that ramp up to 60C. I think it’s ideal for delicate items that are unsuitable for the tumble dryer. Yes, you will need to rotate clothes to make sure they are evenly dried, but I think it offers a mindful and convenient approach to washday.

How energy-efficient is a three-tier heated clothes airer?

This all depends on how much you use it. At the time of writing (using the Energy Cap 25.50p per hour Oct-Dec 2024), Lakeland’s three-tier heated airers cost between 7p and 9p per hour to use. This can make them a more efficient option compared to a tumble dryer, which runs on around 75p per hour for a standard 3000-watt model. 

What laundry load size can a three-tier heated clothes dryer hold? 

This three-tier dryer has up to 22.5m of drying space and can hold up to 30kg of washing. The fewer items you hold inside, the faster the drying time, however. Lakeland points out that for faster drying it’s best to lay your laundry flat across the rails, but this will mean you can fit fewer clothes inside.

Simply lock it into one of three positions, plug it in and use either the built-in control panel or remote control to set the drying time and temperature.

The footprint of this dryer in its widest form of wall mode measures H152 x W137.5 x D37.5cm and H152 x W72 x D70.5cm in standard mode. If you’re tight for space you can use it in compact mode, which measures H152cm x W70.5 x D43cm. Remember to allow space around the dryer for it to ‘breathe’.  And when using a heated clothes dryer, it’s always a good idea to make sure you are drying your clothes in a well-ventilated room.
